Convocatoria

ESCRÚPULOS será un proyecto que explora la estética de la joyería y que desembocará en un performance. Un evento participativo  desarrollado por Ale Carrillo-Estrada para la comunidad de Cd. Juárez y El Paso para tratará asuntos de exploración grotesca-erótica del cuerpo como frontera. A través de la joyería interactuando con los cuerpos buscamos los límites para re-pensarlos, reflexionarlos, y escandalizarlos.

El proyecto involucra creación de joyería experimental de bajo presupuesto inspirada en en el trabajo de Lauren Kalman, Timo Kerber, y amuletos llamados “milagritos“, para luego exhibirla como performance a lo largo del Project Space Festival Juarez 2019 (PSFJ19). Buscaremos crear una conexión entre los cuerpos adornados al límite de sus fronteras. Los participantes van a crear sus propias joyas para luego usarlas como performance en el festival.

Para desarrollar las joyas y el performace para el PSFJ19, estamos invitando personas de la zona Juárez/El Paso interesadas en participar.

Los participantes van a reunirse con Ale Carrillo-Estrada a finales de Octubre (Sábado 26 de 10:00 AM-4:00 PM y Domingo 27 de 12:00 PM a 4:00 PM) que concluirá con performances durante el PSFJ19 (30 de Octubre- 3 de Noviembre, por las tardes). Tener experiencia en metales, arte contemporáneo, y performance puede ayudar, pero no es un requerimiento.

Open Call

ESCRÚPULOS is a project exploring the jewerly aesthetic and it will end up as a performance. It is a participative event of Ale Carrillo-Estrada for the community of Juarez and El Paso dealing with issues of erotic-grotesque exploration of the body as a border. Through jewerly interacting with bodies we search for limits to re-think them, reflect upon them, and scantalize them.

The project involves the creation of low budget experimental jewerly inspired in the work of Lauren Kalman, Timo Kerber, and amulets called “milagritos”, to be exhibited in a performance throught out the Project Space Festival Juarez 2019(PSFJ19). We are seeking to create a connexion among adorned bodies to the limit of their borders. Participants will create their own jewerly and wear them as a performance during the festival.

The project involves creation of jewerly and a performance for the PSFJ19, we are inviting people from the Juárez/El Paso area interested in participating.

Participants will get toghether with Ale Carrillo-Estrada at the end of October (Saturday 26 from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM and Sunday 27 from 12:00 PM a 4:00 PM) and it will conclude with performances during the PSFJ19 (October 30th-November 3rd, during the afternoons). Having experience with metals, contemporary art, and performance can help but it is not required.
