Cx16 es un proyecto artístico, social y cultural que comienza en 2018 como una respuesta a la violencia e inseguridad de la ciudad, ante la necesidad de generar espacios seguros y libres de violencia.
El COVID-19 llegó a Ciudad Juárez y junto con él, las y los habitantes de la frontera acatamos las medidas de prevención y protección propuestas por las autoridades, entre ellas el aislamiento.
Esta medida se ha vuelto un obstáculo para suplir las necesidades materiales que conlleva el desarrollo de las actividades cotidianas de un espacio como es la Casa Cx16.
Te platico, Cx16 es una casa que data de 1920 y se ubica en una de las zonas más peligrosas de la ciudad, el centro histórico. En medio del caos e inseguridad que supone habitar una zona de riesgo, Cx16 se consolida como un proyecto artístico, cultural y social que busca generar un espacio seguro, libre de violencia y discriminación para la comunidad, especialmente para mujeres, personas LGBTTTQBP+ y todas aquellas personas en situación de vulnerabilidad.
Casa Cx16 se desarrolla a través del despliegue de actividades como talleres, conversatorios, charlas, residencias, comidas, visitas de estudio y muestras de arte contemporáneo con distintas temáticas, todas enfocadas a visibilizar y erradicar las distintas modalidades de violencia de género de manera colectiva, por lo cual, como organización autogestiva y sin fines de lucro, mantener las actividades representa grandes dificultades para las y los colaboradores.
Cx16 además, integra un equipo multidisciplinario para organizar y gestionar todos los eventos. A propósito del COVID-19, se pospusieron los eventos masivos destinados a generar ingresos para mantener el espacio.

COVID-19 has arrived in Ciudad Juárez and subsequently, the inhabitants of the border city have followed the prevention and protection measures proposed by the authorities, including isolation. This measure has become an obstacle in meeting the material needs that the development of daily activities entails in a space such as the Cx16 House.
Cx16 is a house that dates back to 1920 and is located in the historic center, one of the most dangerous areas of the city. In the midst of the chaos and insecurity that comes with inhabiting an area of risk, Cx16 consolidates itself as an artistic, cultural and social project that seeks to create a safe space, free of violence and discrimination; focused on women, the LGBTTTQBP+ community and those in vulnerable situations.
Casa Cx16 flourishes through the deployment of activities such as workshops, discussions, residences, talks, meals, study visits and contemporary art exhibits with different themes; devoted to creating visibility and eradicating the different modalities of gender violence, collectively. As a self-managed, non-profit organization, maintaining activities represents great difficulties for all of Cx16’s collaborators. Additionally, a multidisciplinary team has been integrated to organize and manage all of its events.
In consequence to COVID-19, massive events aimed at generating income to maintain the space were postponed.
